Snob. Manhid.

Straight face or poker face, magkaiba ba ‘yun?

Sakit sa dibdib no?

I was hungry and bored, so I thought of cooking something. I am a hoarder of corned beef and Spams, for some reasons like corned beefs and Spams are easy to cook and sometimes ready to eat which is not my thing. Plus, the fact that these are eaten as “pulutan” by my brother which is I think so unpractical. I consider these as emergency foods so I try to keep them or should I say “hoard” in a safe place.
I always try to spice up things when I cook so I tried my best in giving this simple dish a twist!
You will need:
1. Corned beef, any brands will do. But for me the best tasting corned beef is the PALM brand not the one I’m using for this recipe.
2. Taco Seasoning
3. Steak seasoning (optional)
4. Salt and Pepper
5. Canned red beans, better if unsalted.
6. Onions
Here’s how:
1. On a pan, sautee onions using the juices or fats (admit it, it’s fat!) and add the corned beef until onions turn kinda transparent.
2. Drain the red beans and wash it with water to get rid off the water and preservatives, drain.
3. Add the red beans, and season it with S&P, sprinkle the taco mix according to your liking or taste, try not to put too much because it may ruin your dish - taco mix can be so overpowering and so spicy so, you decide. As an optional ingredient, you can add steak seasoning mix because this has paprika and some other spices.
4. Let it cook for another 3-5 minutes, and then serve while it’s hot - this is to prevent the red beans from drying.
Enjoy this meal! I call it, Spiced corned Beef and Red Beans.
One more thing, if you have taco shells - perfect!!!
